About the Position:

The Application Support Consultant position provides first tier technical support via email and phone to customers. This position also entails many other key facets of our company, including but not limited to: training, software testing, and creating technical documentation. The ideal candidate is technical in nature, but enjoys interacting with people. This might be the perfect role for someone who is looking to start out in a technical field and get exposed to a ton of different technologies. Still, the amount of customer interaction cannot be understated.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Outgoing and personable.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated.
  • Enthusiasm for helping customers succeed.
  • Strong logical and analytical thinking.
  • Familiarity with Web-based business applications.
  • HTML/CSS/JavaScript

Good to Have, but not Required:

  • SQL
  • JAVA
  • Familiarity with at least one database (IBM DB2, MS SQL, MySQL or Oracle.)
  • Familiarity with at least one operating system: Microsoft, UNIX, or Linux

Responsibilities fall into these major areas:

Customer Support (60%)

Application Support Consultants provide technical support to customers via telephone and e-mail. This is not a boring helpdesk role, but instead is a highly consultative support role. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and an ability to analyze and solve technical applications challenges. He/she can guide customers toward accomplishing their goals. This requires learning the details of the customer’s business application, designing a solution, testing the concepts, and leading them to success.

Customer Training (20%)

Application Support Consultants conduct m-Power training classes for small groups at mrc client sites nationwide, so there is some travel required, usually 3-5 days at a time and typically 1-2 times per month. Application Support Consultants also develop new training curriculums as needed.

Technical Activities (20%)

Application Support Consultants provide support on a wide variety of internal projects, including software testing, technical documentation, and even some application design.

Details:

This full-time salaried position pays competitively and includes benefits such as health/dental/vision insurance, paid holiday/vacation/sick days, and a bonus program. This position reports to the Software Development Manager.
