mrc Press Release
Saved searches saves time for end users and developers alike
September 2011 Lombard, IL - Today, software tool developer michaels, ross & cole, ltd. (mrc)
announces a new m-Power enhancement that brings saved searches to web applications.
m-Power
is software that rapidly creates web applications such as report-writing, Business Intelligence, executive
dashboards, e-commerce, customer portals, and wireless applications to name a few.
The "Saved Searches" enhancement adds a new time-saving dimension to web applications created with m-Power. It
lets users and developers save custom sorting/filtering criteria within their web applications, which allows
for easy access in the future. This is helpful in many ways, such as:
- Turns one application into many: Within a company, different users care about different aspects of data. For example, a CEO may want reports with revenue data, while the sales staff wants reports with sales by region. As a result, developers usually develop multiple reports for different job levels. However, with saved searches, a developer can create one report and assign custom saved searches to each job level. This way, each user can look at the same report but instantly access the information that interests them.
- Saves time on repetitive searches: This new feature lets end users save their own searches directly within a web application. This saves time, especially for those end users who frequently sort and filter by the same criteria. Now, they can save that criteria and automatically access the data they need with one click.
- Store hidden trends and business insight: The "Saved Searches" feature will also come in very handy for analysts, as they sort through large amounts of data in search of trends or new business insights. Whenever they find an important piece of data, they can now save the search criteria and eliminate the risk of forgetting where it is was found.
"Saved searches will help all types of m-Power users," says Brian Crowley, mrc's Director of Development. "It will let both developers and end users save time and operate more efficiently."
